ā¢You will like this book if you enjoy the show āYouā on Netflix. If a murderous stalker is your thing, this book is for you!
ā¢This book along with its sequel come with a major trigger warning. Itās not for everyone. There is literally a full page authorās note warning you of all of the extremely graphic and disturbing content.
All of that said, I loved this book, and at first I wasnāt really sure what that said about me. Yes, itās very dark. But itās also telling a really important story. The plot takes us on a deep dive into the, albeit fictional, very scary world of human trafficking, skin trade, sexual abuse, non consensual sex, child molestation, and beyond. All of these topics can and most likely will be very uncomfortable, but the author does a wonderful job of keeping you on the edge of your seat while making you grow to love the main characters. You will likely find yourself rooting for their vigilante efforts, and excusing some of their indecent activities. The bad guys in this book are very bad guys. The good guys in this book are bad guys who are attempting to right some of the wrongs in this world. Hence why you fall in love with some of them despite their seedy behavior. There is also an added element of spookiness with a spooky house that has a twisted history. It is so hard to write a concise review about this one. It will leave you SHOCKED and disappointed and desperate for Book 2, so do yourself a favor and have both books on hand so you can read them back to back.
This is one that youāll probably hate to love, but I canāt wait to hear your thoughts! Iām almost done with Book 2 and all I can say is HOLY COW. Itās even darker than the first, but even more important. #hauntingadeline
