The Last Letter // Rebecca Yarros
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 stars)
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Definitely some steamy scenes, just not super frequent.
Genre: Emotional Military Romance
•This book was beautiful and heartbreaking. I think the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I listened to it on audible rather than reading the physical book. For some reason I develop a much deeper connection when I have pages in my hands. That said, the narrators were wonderful, and I really loved this story, I just think I would have loved it even more in paperback.
•If you have a special place in your heart for snail mail and pen pals, you will love The Last Letter. Beckett Gentry is a military guy with no home, no family. His only companion is his best friend and military brother, Ryan. Ryan is a bright light who asks his sister Ella to start writing letters to Beckett in an effort to bring him comfort during their deployment. Ella and Beckett quickly develop a deep connection through their letters…but soon they each have to navigate heartbreaking tragedies that threaten to tear their lives apart.
•This all-consuming love story deals with a lot of deep heartbreak but it is balanced by uplifting, selfless love. I literally walked around listening to this in my AirPods while crying numerous times, often in public.
•I love a good tear jerker, and this is definitely one of those. It’s a timeless book that gives you a new perspective on life and reminds you not to take one second with your loved ones for granted. Grab the tissues and read this beautiful story.
