The Simple Wild
The Simple Wild // K.A. Tucker
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 stars)
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
•This book would best be enjoyed during colder months when you can wear something cozy and snuggle up by a fire with a toasty drink in hand. Make your spouse walk around in a tight cotton henley for good measure.
•The Simple Wild was a slow burn for me. It was actually quite a nice palate cleanser after reading the very f*cked up Haunting Adeline series. 😵💫 The first few chapters of this dragged a bit, but I really started to get into it around Ch. 5.
•Calla grows up in Toronto after her mother parted ways with her Father in the beginning of the book, leaving him to live out his ideal life as a bush pilot in remote Alaska. Calla grows up never meeting her father face to face, only corresponding with him over the phone on rare occasions.
•Eventually Calls gets a mysterious phone call and discovers that now may be her only chance to meet her Dad and try to form some type of relationship with him, but I don’t want to spoil the reason WHY the clock is ticking.
•Calla reluctantly sets off on an Alaskan adventure… Enter grumpy, unkempt bush pilot Jonah, who is tasked with flying Calla safely to her dad’s remote hometown, and this is where it finally gets good! I was hooked from this point on. We immediately sense an enemies to lover trope once Calla and Jonah meet, and I was here👏🏻for👏🏻it! Their witty banter had me laughing out loud, which was a great juxtaposition with the sadness I felt over her dad’s lifelong regret of never getting to know his daughter.
•We journey with Calla and her dad, Wren, as they try to navigate a profoundly sad road together. Without giving too much away, I felt a lot of mixed emotions in this book. Sadness, regret, hope, grief, longing, comfort, and love. I smiled, I laughed, I got hot and bothered by a few scenes, and I cried some ugly tears. This one hit me in the heart. Definitely a good read if you love a wholesome romance, and don’t mind shedding a few tears along the way.👌🏻
